Liverpool's Star Issues Apology to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the team after the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a vital match after making accusations and stating his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
He also noted that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I get that there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the period after the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“In moments of frustration, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and starting to win games.”
