Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The newest Far Cry title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating violence and madness with similar glee, all while telling gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those things.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a new backdrop and group of personalities in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their constant trust and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the nature of society through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our mutual irreverent, ambitious approach to the television.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
